Atlee wants to take Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Jawan to Oscars, says ‘If everything falls in place…’

Atlee is currently enjoying the success of his latest release Jawan. The filmmaker made a blockbuster Bollywood debut with Shah Rukh Khan-starrer and has impressed the audience. The filmmaker recently expressed his wish that Jawan should go to the Oscars. 

In a recent interview with ETimes, When asked about his plans to take cinema to the global level, if he is eyeing the Oscars, Atlee said, “Of course, even Jawan should go, if everything falls in place. I think every effort, everybody, every director, every technician who is working in cinema, their eyes are on the Golden Globes, Oscars, National Awards, every award. So, definitely, yeah, I would also love to take Jawan to the Oscars. Let's see.” 

He added that he would discuss it with Shah Rukh Khan and said, “I think Khan sir will watch and read this interview. I will also ask him over a call, 'Sir, should we take this film to the Oscars?” 

Atlee also talked about who he wants to work with next after Shah Rukh Khan and said, “So, I am also intrigued about working with the big stars of the country. The good thing is, God has to bless you. God's blessing to me is a good script and a good idea. So, once it is taking place, then other steps would be easy. I am also waiting for a good script to get locked to work with Salman sir and Ranbir sir.” 

Jawan starring Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, and Vijay Sethupathi has been breaking records since its release. The film has surpassed Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 in just 9 days to become the second highest-grossing movie of the year after Pathaan. The film also stars Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Aaliyah Qureshi, Lehar Khan, and Ridhi Dogra among others in key roles. Produced by Gauri Khan under the banner of Red Chillies Entertainment, Jawan has collected over Rs 800 crore in 11 days.
