Prithvi Shaw's aspirations of making a comeback to the Indian cricket team were dealt a significant blow when he sustained an injury while playing One-Day cricket for his county side, Northamptonshire, in England.

Shaw displayed exceptional form for the county team, which could have potentially earned him a spot in the ODI team as they prepare for the upcoming ODI World Cup on home soil. Unfortunately, his dreams were shattered when he suffered a knee injury during his debut stint with the team.

As a result, the talented batsman is expected to be sidelined from on-field action for the next two to three months, casting doubt on his participation in the domestic season.

However, he is expected to be fit in time for the commencement of the Ranji Trophy. The opening batsman caught everyone's attention with a mysterious post on his social media platform.

"People give hands when you step up in life, and always leave it when you go down from steps," he wrote in an Instagram story.

He achieved a remarkable feat by scoring 244 runs against Somerset, and further solidified his prowess by delivering an unbeaten 125 off just 76 balls in the match against Durham on August 13. His exceptional performance played a pivotal role in securing a six-wicket victory for his team.

"Prithvi injured his knee while fielding in the fixture against Durham and subsequent scan results received this morning have revealed the injury is worse than initially expected," Northamptonshire stated in a media release.

The 23-year-old prodigy, Shaw, has made a remarkable debut in his county career, capturing the attention of cricket enthusiasts as he effortlessly smashed an astonishing 429 runs in a mere four innings. Presently, Shaw finds himself in the heart of London, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is actively engaged in communication with the talented Mumbai batsman. The forthcoming days will play a pivotal role in determining whether he will embark on a journey to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for rehabilitation or opt to pursue further treatment in the vibrant city of London.
