MUMBAI: There is a twist in the murder of the Juhu-based call girl, Sanjana Kadam, 20. The police, which were interrogating Sanjana’s boyfriend and her pimp in the case, on Thursday arrested her stepfather Vijay Kadam, 43 on charges of rape and murder. Vijay, who has three children from Sanjana’s mother, however, insists that he only wanted to kiss her.

Senior inspector of DN Nagar police station told DNA: “Of the six witnesses, four are Sanjana’s girlfriends, who have told us that she would often complain about Vijay’s repeated attempts to establish sexual relations with her.” His advances had forced Sanjana to leave her Malvani residence six months ago.

Police officers also revealed that Sanjana was pregnant with a two-month-old foetus at the time of her death. Two other witnesses claimed to have seen Vijay entering Sanjana’s building on January 17 — the day of her murder. The police also have clinching evidence against the accused in the form of a note scribbled in Sanjana’s diary. It read: “Raju Seth and three others have raped me.” “Aimed at misguiding the probe, the note it has been proved was written by Vijay,” Thakur said.

Meanwhile, DNA tests have been conducted on Vijay to establish whether the semen samples taken from the vagina of the deceased, blood samples found in her fingernails (a sure sign that she was raped) and other forensic evidence matched with that of the accused. “The blood samples of four youths, including one Rafiq from Dharavi, who were close to the deceased woman have been sent for the DNA analysis,” Thakur said.
