In view of the Lok Sabha elections, BJP's state executive meeting on September 27 will discuss a detailed roadmap for the 2019 polls. It may be recalled that in 2014, the BJP had won 23 seats while its ally Shiv Sena had bagged 18 seats. This time, the BJP is eyeing 30 plus seats on its own if the Sena breaks the alliance.

BJP ministers in the union cabinet will devote a day every month for one Lok Sabha seat each, cover 300-400 km of road journey meeting party office bearers and voters. Apart from this, the state minister will be bestowed with the responsibility of implementing the government's flagship programmes including Ujala, Modicare, Direct Benefit Transfer, Jalyukta Shivar and farm insurance scheme among others in each LS seat. The objective is to consolidate party organisation up to block and booth level.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will lead the BJP party in the ensuing LS polls. Fadnavis has became the longest serving non-Congress chief minister of Maharashtra, surpassing the 1,420-day tenure of Shiv Sena's Manohar Joshi.

At the day-long meeting, district BJP presidents will submit their report card and present their preparations. BJP legislators will talk about the progress made by them to consolidate BJP's presence in their respective constituencies.

State BJP spokesperson Madhav Bhandari said, "The state executive will review the functioning of the government and the party organisation for the last three months. It will also review party's preparedness for the LS elections at the micro and macro levels.''

Senior BJP ministers said the party is undeterred by the Opposition's campaign against the Rafale deal, soaring fuel prices and falling price of the rupee. "Our agenda is to counter these charges and focus on selling how the BJP-led government will help India become a five trillion dollar economy. Also, that the BJP-government in stronger than the hotchpotch alliance of Opposition parties,'' he said.

He informed that booth level teams have been formed in all 48 LS seats for proper coordination. ''State executive will expect the high command to take a call on party's alliance with Shiv Sena. But it will not leave any stone unturned if it has to go solo,'' the minister said.
