Delhi: 24 people who attended religious congregation at Nizamuddin Markaz test COVID-19 positive

Delhi government has said that at least 24 people, who took part in a religious congregation in Nizamuddin West earlier this month, have tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Health Minister Satyendar Jain said 1,033 people have been shifted to various places after authorities started evacuating the place on Monday. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has ordered the registration of an FIR against the organisers for leading the congregation.

Coronavirus Lockdown: Validity of driving licences, vehicle registration expired after Feb 1 extended till June 30

Amid nationwide lockdown over novel coronavirus, the Central Government on Tuesday said that the validity of documents like driving licenses, permits and vehicles registration that expired after February 1 has been extended till June 30.

In an advisory to all states and Union Territories, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has asked them to treat documents that expired since February 1 as valid till June 30.

Coronavirus pandemic: Govt launches 'Stranded in India' portal for foreign tourists stuck in India due to lockdown

The Ministry of Tourism on Tuesday (March 31) launched a portal to distribute information towards the foreign tourists in India amid coronavirus lockdown across the nation.

Government of India's ‘Stranded in India’ portal's main aims will be to act as a support network for foreign tourists stuck in various parts of the country.

India, China could be exceptions to recession in world economy due to coronavirus pandemic: UN trade body 

An economic package of US $2.5 trillion is needed for developing economies to deal with the fallout from the coronavirus pandemic, the United Nations said on Monday. 

A silver lining is, however, that China and India are less likely to be hit by recession due to the lockdown caused by the novel coronavirus, a report prepared by the UN trade and development body said.
