IMD weather update: Heavy rains predicted in several states for next 4 days; check full list here

In its most recent bulletin, the India Meteorological Department has described the weather conditions for the next several days in various sections of the country. According to the most recent forecast, extremely heavy rain is expected to persist over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Northeast India, and extreme southern Peninsular India during the next five days.

From September 2023, there will likely be a fresh rainy spell over regions of East India. Additionally, throughout the course of the following 4-5 days, isolated rainfall is anticipated to persist over the remaining regions of the nation.

IMD weather forecast for India in the next 4 days

Northeast India: Over Arunachal Pradesh on August 29, Assam and Meghalaya from August 31 to September 2 and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura over the following five days, there will likely be light to moderate rainfall.

East India: On Thursday and Saturday and Sunday, isolated heavy rainfall activity is highly likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, as well as over Odisha. Starting from today till Saturday, Andaman & Nicobar Islands are anticipated to see mild to moderately heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30–40 kmph).

On August 29, January 1, and September 2, 2023, there is a very high probability of isolated, extremely heavy rainfall across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

South India: Light to moderate rainfall across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal from August 29 to September 1 and over Kerala from August 29 to August 30, 2023, are both highly possible.

In recent months, severe downpours have pounded the Himalayan regions of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, causing landslides and cloudbursts. With a strong system in place to respond to national disasters whenever necessary, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has evacuated 1,330 people and delivered 45 tons of food, and other necessities in the last two months in Himachal Pradesh that suffered severe damage to its infrastructure.
