Once a brilliant student, Sylvester Daniel alias Dipu Stalin Eesai, commited his first crime when he was 20. His friend had cheated him and filed a theft complaint against him. Sylvester resided with his parents at House no 238, Bhupalpura, H road in Udaipur before entering the world of underworld.

His father held a significant post in Rajasthan health department, while his mother was a nurse in Udaipur. Sylvester used to be a ranker in his school days and was also active in sports. After his first crime, he met local don Azam Khan in Rajasthan jail, who boosted his crime graph further.

Thereafter, he met Tulsi Prajapati, also behind the bars, who introduced him to Sohrabuddin Sheikh. The trio shot to fame when they orchestrated the killing of Hamid Lala, another local don. Sylvester was booked for six different cases of murder, attempt to murder, attack on police, and loot in Rajasthan.

He either got bail or was acquitted in most of the cases except the attack on police that took place at Ambamata Chowk in Udaipur. When he escaped on Friday night, he was being brought back to Vadodara from Udaipur after a hearing in connection with the same case.

To expand their extortion empire to Gujarat, Sylvester, along with Prajapati, fired at the office of Popular Builders at the behest of an IPS officer.

Since he was a close ally of Sohrabuddin and Tulsi, the CBI made him a witness in their alleged fake encounter cases. The CBI, which cannot afford to lose him as he is the only witness alive, believes his testimony can reveal many things which people in power may not like.
