Manipur: 3 suspected NSCN-IM militants injured in exchange of fire with security forces, hideout busted

A temporary camp harbouring suspected militants on Wednesday was busted by security forces in Manipur’s Tamenglong district.

Assam Rifles launched an operation to clear out suspected militants in the dense forest area near Chingmei Kabui (Pungsanmei) village based on intelligence inputs. The NSCN-IM militants opened fired on the troops, and successively an exchange of gunfire started between the security forces and the militants.

According to media reports, three suspected militants were injured in the gunfight. However, most of the militants who were hiding in the area managed to flee.

Moreover, the security forces managed to retrieve fired cartridges from the area used as a temporary camp by the NSCN-IM militants.
