An ongoing feud that should have remained private between Bollywood stars Hrithik Roshan and Kangana Ranaut has ended in legal notices to each other.

In Roshan's legal notice he alleges: Kangana has Asperger's syndrome, suggesting she imagines things, claiming she was in touch with an imposter till May 2014 as she had the wrong email ID, that she sent him 1439 emails till date and stalked him online.

However, there is no link between delusional behaviour and Asperger's syndrome. Asperger syndrome is an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) which is considered to be on the “high functioning” end of the spectrum.

Children and adults affected find social interactions challenging and "exhibit a restricted range of interests and/or repetitive behaviours", according to the Autism Speaks organisation.

ASD delays motor development which leads to clumsiness or uncoordinated motor movements. However, people affected by Asperger's syndrome do not have a significant delay or difficulty in language or cognitive development.

Autism Speaks shares the following behaviours which are associated with Asperger syndrome. However, they vary widely in degree in individuals.

  • Limited or inappropriate social interactions
  • "Robotic" or repetitive speech
  •  Challenges with nonverbal communication (gestures, facial expression, etc.) coupled with average to above average verbal skills
  •  Tendency to discuss self rather than others
  •  Inability to understand social/emotional issues or nonliteral phrases
  •  Lack of eye contact or reciprocal conversation
  •  Obsession with specific, often unusual, topics
  •  One-sided conversations
  •  Awkward movements and/or mannerisms
