More than 950 items belonging to Elizabeth Taylor, including jewellery, clothes, shoes and pieces of art, will be put up for sale in Christie’s first solely online auction.

Prices will start from £62 for a pair of Chanel earrings and go up to £6,300 for a diamond and 18-carat white gold necklace set with 126 circular-cut diamonds.

The online only auction is a first for Christie’s in its 245-year history. It will ship any items bought in the auction around the world.

“The Elizabeth Taylor collection is so vast that it led us to think up solutions of how best to sell it outside of the physical auction,” the Telegraph quoted Michael O’Neal, digital media director at Christie’s, as saying.

“We think by doing an online-only auction, it will lead new people to shop for items with Christie’s,” he said.

The digital auction begins on the December 3rd and finishes on the 17th to coincide with the series of real-life auctions of the star’s huge trove of jewellery and memorabilia at Christie’s in New York.
