Delhi police announce reward of Rs 25k for turning in pervert

The Delhi police have declared a reward of Rs 25,000 for anyone who provides information on a man who was masturbating in a bus. The police failed to get any breakthrough in the case where the middle-aged man was seen touching his private parts, while he was seated next to a Delhi University girl. The incident occurred on February 7, after which the police registered a case of sexual harrasment and doing obscene act in public; no arrests have been made yet.

The police questioned various people and scanned the records of previous offenders as well, but failed to trace the accused. The bus drivers who ply on the same route were questioned, too, to gather information on the accused. Posters have been put up at several locations across the Capital for easy identification.

The victim, a 20-year-old final year student of BA (Hons) English, was on her way home in a route 774 bus on February 7, when the incident took place. She reached home and informed her parents and also shared the video of the act on social media. The woman claimed that no one came forward to help her in the bus.

She is now urging other women to come out in the open and share their experience as a part of the 'Speak Up' movement.

In her statement to the police, she said: "I was reading a book when a man seated next to me unzipped his pants and flashed his private parts. He even tried to touch my waist several times," she said.
