Cricketing fans around the world were again awestruck when the legends of the game once again took on the field when Ponting’s XI played Gilchrist’s XI at the Junction Oval in Melbourne on Sunday to help raise funds for the Australia bushfire relief.

The match saw some high-profile players back in action like Yuvraj Singh, Brett Lee, Wasim Akram and even Sachin Tendulkar, who was challenged by Australia women all-rounder Ellyse Perry on social media and the Master Blaster agreed on the same.

Not only Sachin, but the world also got to witness the legendary West Indies batsman Brian Lara once again showcase his magic with the bat.

Lara, the only man to score 400 runs in a test match, was a part of Ponting’s XI which hoisted a total of 104 runs at an expense of five wickets.

Brian rolled back the years and played yet another key knock for his side. The 50-year-old shamed 30 runs off 11 balls, which included three boundaries and two sixes, and reminded everyone that class is permanent no matter what.

However, the crowd was even more enchanted to see him bat when the veteran Windies cricketer smashed a massive six off Andrew Symonds' delivery with an old-school inside-out shot over the mid-off.
