A magnificent innings of 244 runs by Prithvi Shaw, which included an impressive 28 fours and 11 sixes, propelled Northamptonshire to an astounding total of 415 for 8 in just 50 overs. Shaw's remarkable performance not only secured Northamptonshire's highest ever score in List A cricket but also ranked as the sixth highest worldwide in List A history. In a mere 153 balls, he surpassed his previous best score of 227 for Mumbai against Puducherry in Jaipur in 2021, as well as eclipsed Ben Duckett's 220 not out for England Lions against Sri Lanka A in 2016.

It is worth noting that Alistair Brown's exceptional 268 for Surrey against Glamorgan at the Oval in 2002 remains the only superior effort in England List A cricket when compared to Shaw's outstanding achievement.

The 23-year-old has been excluded from the ongoing series against the West Indies. Additionally, he is not included in the second-string Indian T20I squads for the upcoming Ireland series and the Asian Games.

However, Shaw has asserted that he simply desires to relish his time in county cricket.

"Definitely (here for the) experience for sure. Not really thinking what the Indian selectors may be thinking, but I just want to have a good time here," Shaw said after the game.

Shaw remarked that with the sun shining brightly, the batting conditions were perfect. He further expressed his belief that it was his day to make a significant impact.

"The sun was out, it was kind of like Indian weather today (Wednesday) so it was really looking good. I wasn't thinking about anything.

"You know when an inside edge doesn't get me out, that means this day is for me. You have to be lucky sometimes, so I think this was a day for me. I didn't look back after that. When I got 150 I thought I was timing the ball really well and this could be the day to go bigger," he said.
