On the final day of the Indian Premier League (IPL) trading window, Delhi Capitals (DC) secured yet another blockbuster signing after bringing in Kings XI Punjab's skipper Ashwin; as they announced the arrival of Ajinkya Rahane from Rajasthan Royals.

Since this move, there has been a lot of talks regarding why RR decided to let go of one of their top players to a rivel side.

Rahane had been with Rajasthan Royals since 2011 and has led the side in 2018 as well, has a price tag of Rs 4 crore.

The make the deal possible, DC decided to trade leg spinner Mayank Markande to Rajasthan Royals. Not only Mayank, but Delhi also traded Rahul Tewatia, who started his IPL career with Rajasthan back in 2014.

The cricketer scored 3,820 runs at a strike rate of 122 and has a more impressive IPL record than his international white-ball numbers.

However, the Rajasthan franchise COO Jake Lush McCrum has finally disclosed the reason behind this move.

“Ajinkya Rahane is a Royals legend and will always be a member of our family. He is an exceptionally talented cricketer, whose century last year was one of the best performances of IPL 2019, and we wish him all the best in Delhi," McCrum was quoted saying by Hindustan Times.

"The reason for the trade was due to our excessive number of quality openers, compared to our lack of depth in the leg-spin department, which we have all seen is incredibly important. Both Markande and Tewatia have performed in the IPL and we believe they can add significant value to the team this year."

"Tewatia also has the ability to bat big late on in an innings which is very valuable.”
