IND vs SL Asia Cup 2023 final: Team India is all set to take on Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2023 final on Sunday, September 17, at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. However, there are predictions that rain will play spoilsport during the match.

Rain has affected every match of the tournament. Even the India vs Pakistan group-stage match was called off after the first innings. In the final match too, there is at least an 80% chance of rain on Sunday with predictions for heavy showers from 1 pm to 7 pm in the evening. The match is scheduled to be played from 3 pm IST.

What happens if IND vs SL Asia Cup 2023 final gets washed out due to rain?

The final match will be played on a reserve day (September 18), if it gets washed out due to rain on Sunday (September 17). In case the rain starts in even on the reserve day, then both the teams will be sharing the Asia Cup 2023 trophy. 

It is to be noted that it won't be the first time when India and Sri Lanka will be declared joint-winners of a tournament. In 2002, the Champions Trophy was hosted in Sri Lanka in September and rain had disrupted many matches.

The final match of the tournament was to be played between India and Sri Lanka. But rain played spoilsport and the match could not be held even on the reserve day. India and Sri Lanka were then declared joint winners.
