After a disappointing match in Kandy last week, India and Pakistan are set to face off once again in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 on Sunday. Both teams convincingly defeated Nepal, securing their spots in the Super Fours of this prestigious continental event. However, fans should prepare themselves for another potential disappointment, as it is highly likely that rain will spoil the much-anticipated clash between these arch-rivals in Colombo this weekend.

The weather has already proven to be a determining factor in the Asia Cup games held in Sri Lanka. India's group-stage matches were both affected by rain, and unfortunately, the same scenario is expected when they go head-to-head with Pakistan on Sunday.

The upcoming game at the R Premadasa Stadium later this week appears to be in jeopardy due to the unfavorable weather conditions. According to the forecast, there is a high probability of precipitation exceeding 70 percent in the morning. Although the temperature is expected to drop slightly as the day progresses, the threat of rain remains, particularly at the beginning of the match.

The temperature will drop further by several degrees in the evening, and there are no signs of a clear sky. In fact, the rain is expected to intensify as the night progresses.

Not only will the game against Pakistan be affected, but India's next two Super Four matches against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are also expected to be interrupted by bad weather. The Indian team will face Sri Lanka on September 12 at the same venue, and according to the forecast, there is a 40 percent chance of rain with dense cloud cover.

It is worth noting that Colombo will experience heavy showers on the eve of the IND vs SL clash, on September 11.

However, India's last Super Four clash against Bangladesh on September 15 may have better playing conditions as the percentage of precipitation and cloud cover is lower compared to previous days.

Earlier, it was reported that the Asian Cricket Council might change the venues for the final leg of the Asia Cup from Colombo to Hambantota to avoid the threat of rain. However, on Tuesday, the ACC informed the stakeholders that the tournament will proceed as initially scheduled, with all games to be played in Colombo.
