It's been a considerable duration since an India vs Pakistan bilateral series took place, with the last one occurring in 2012-13. Despite facing off in ICC and continental events, the absence of a bilateral series has left cricket fans eagerly anticipating a renewed clash.

Zaka Ashraf, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board Management Committee, addressed this matter in a press conference on Wednesday, stating, " As far as India-Pakistan series are concerned, both the boards are ready to play one another as long as there is government clearance," as reported by pcb.com.pk, the official website of the Pakistan Cricket Board.

As of now, there has been no response from the BCCI regarding this statement. However, in September 2023, Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur had declared that the BCCI had decided against a bilateral series with Pakistan until they cease activities linked to "terrorism." Thakur emphasized, 'BCCI had decided much earlier that we would not play bilateral matches with Pakistan until they put an end to terrorism, cross-border attacks, and infiltration. I think the sentiments of the country and of the public are also the same.'

Notably, this statement followed an incident in which three top Indian security personnel were killed in a gunfight with terrorists in Anantnag, Jammu & Kashmir. India recently faced Pakistan in the ODI Cricket World Cup 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, securing victory by seven wickets. The upcoming encounter between the two teams is scheduled for the 2024 T20 World Cup in New York on June 9.
