CarDekho is the leading auto platform in the country, which helps people get good deals on branded and expensive cars. However, the journey of CarDekho founder Amit Jain is nothing short of inspiring. Not many people know, but Amit Jain started his journey to success under the leadership of Ratan Tata.

Amit Jain, who is the founder and CEO of leading auto selling platform CarDekho, is a graduate from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and did his schooling from Jaipur. He later went on to work for one of Ratan Tata’s most profitable firms, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).

After working in TCS for several years, he worked in several IT and software companies and eventually decided to set up his own startup teamed up with his brother Anurag Jain. The brothers first established an IT firm called GirnarSoft.

After the success of GirnarSoft, Amit Jain decided to launch CarDekho, a flagship portal of his IT company. However, the auto platform did not see major success in its initial days. Established in 2008, CarDekho only came to prominence after 2010.

Soon, CarDekho got a major funding from a Hong Kong based company in 2014. After a major funding of Rs 414 crore from the Hong Kong company, the business of CarDekho took off and attracted the eye of former Tata Sons chairman Ratan Tata.

Ratan Tata ended up investing in Amit Jain’s CarDekho, giving a major boost to its valuation. Though the amount of Ratan Tata’s investment was not disclosed, the profits of Amit Jain’s firm nearly doubled, and its valuation was through the roof.

According to the Times of India, Amit Jain’s auto company CarDekho has a total valuation of USD 1.2 billion, which comes out to nearly Rs 10,000 crore. Amit Jain has further expanded CarDekho into multiple ventures, such as BikeDekho, CollegeDekho and more.
