Shekhar Suman opened up about working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali in Heeramandi, and his loss of not doing Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Madhuri Dixit's Devdas.
Shekhar Suman will be back on the screen after the gap of six years, in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming series Heeramandi. The actor was last seen in Sanjay Dutt's Bhoomi (2017), and in between, he was busy anchoring a special segment of Bigg Boss 16. Recently, Shekhar attended the success bash of Dream Girl 2, and while speaking to Instant Bollywood, he opened up about his role in Heeramandi.
The actor-director admitted that it's a privilege that Sanjay has offered him a pivotal role in Heeramandi. He further revealed that although this is the first time he's collaborating with Sanajy, he was offered a pivotal role in Sanjay's blockbuster, Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Aishwarya Rai-starrer Devdas. During the interaction, Shekhar disclosed that Bhansali offered him the role of Chunnilal, but he couldn't do it, and the role went to Jackie Shroff. Speaking more about it, he said, "Long ago Devdas mein unhone mujhe Chunnilal ka role offer kiya tha, jo main nahi kar paya...waqt nahi tha. Jackie saab ne kiya, and accha hua unhone kiya. Woh ek malaal reh gaya tha zindagi mein. Lekin woh kami ab puri ho gayi." Before Jackie Shroff, even Govinda was also considered for the same role, but the actor refused to take the project. Govinda has talked about the same in Rajat Sharma's show Aap Ki Adalat.
