15kg silver ornaments stolen from Gandhinagar temple

A complaint of theft was lodged with the Gandhinagar Infocity police station on Wednesday after around 15kg of silver ornaments worth Rs 4.5 lakh was stolen from Dholeshwar Mahadev temple located near the Sabarmati river in Gandhinagar area.

The complaint was lodged by victim Rajendrasinh Vaghela, trustee of the temple. He stated in his complaint that on Tuesday morning, his nephew had gone to the temple when he found out that the ornaments on the idol were missing and that the door of the temple's office was also broken.

His nephew informed Vaghela, who lives inside the temple itself. When Vaghela tried to get out of his room, he found out that somebody had locked the door from outside. Around 15kg of silver ornaments from the idol and cash was stolen from the temple by thieves.

During the investigation, the police recovered CCTV footage from the temple, which showed six people arriving at the temple. Four of them stood outside the temple, while two entered and stole the valuables.

On the basis of CCTV footage, the police have started an investigation to identify the accused and further investigation is on.
