If you have got even 100 percentiles in the CAT but you are fresh graduate, your dream of getting admission in the best management schools in the country — Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) may not materialise easily.

At the same time, if you have scored 98 percentile and you are holding post graduate degree and work experience of one or two years, there are high chances that you can beat the fresher student with 100% percentile.

Details uploaded on the institute’s website clearly state that as per the new changes in the Application Rating (AR) Score, 70% weightage will be given to the CAT/GMAT Score.

Prof Arnab K Laha, chairman of admission committee IIMA said that the institute is preferring the candidates with post graduate degrees and some work experience. “We have sent more than 40% calls to freshers and 55 % to candidates with work experience. Management study requires exposure to the workplace dynamics. If the candidate doesn’t know it, it would be difficult for him to understand it.”
