The killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar has now become a major geopolitical issue, sparking tensions between India and Canada. Now, it is being revealed that the United States has also been keeping tabs on the Khalistani elements in their country, and likely protecting them.

According to a report published by The Intercept, an American media outlet, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) visited Khalistani elements in the US and warned them that their lives may be at risk, a fact which can further heighten diplomatic tensions.

Pritpal Singh, who is a US citizen and a Sikh activist working for the American Sikh Caucus Committee, told The Intercept that several Sikh activists involved in political organizations, including himself, received calls and visits from the FBI after Nijjar was killed in Canada.

As quoted by the American media outlet, Singh said, “I was visited by two FBI special agents in late June who told me that they had received information that there was a threat against my life.” He further said that the FBI didn’t reveal the source of the threat, but warned him to be careful.

While the FBI has not made any formal comments about this new development linked to the Khalistani movement yet, two more Sikh Americans told The Intercept that the investigation agency visited them to warn them about any future death threats.

Earlier this week, an intelligence report by Five Eyes Alliance said that there is a link between the assassination of Hardeep Nijjar and the Indian government. Nijjar was the chief of the Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF) and was on the most wanted list in India.

After Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau posed this allegation of Nijjar’s killing on India, the geopolitical warfare between India and Canada started, as both countries expelled each other’s diplomats, and India suspended visa services for Canadians.
