Several people were shot in an attack that is being reported from New York in USA. The incident took place in a subway station in Brooklyn during the Tuesday morning commuter rush as per officials.

The accident occurred on the 36th Street station in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. As per Fox 5 NYC, 8 people have been shot and at least 8 people injured with several due to hunfire. 

The police are reportedly looking for a man who is wearing an orange worker’s vest and a gas mask. Schools in the area are on lockdown with the manhunt underway for Brooklyn subway shooting suspect.

 

The police also received reports claiming smoke inside the station premises. Several “undetonated devices” were reportedly found at the scene. New York City Police Department has said that no active explosive devices are at the scene "at this time". A senior law enforcement official told CNN that there is possibility that a smoke device was detonated at the subway station.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is at the scene providing assistance to the NYPD.

The police are asking for any witnesses to come forward and call the authorities with any information they have. People have been advised to stay away of the area around the 36th Street and 4th Avenue station in Sunset Park.

Incidents of mass shootings are on the rise in New York since the beginning of the year. The latest attack further heightens the concern around mass shootings and public safety in the US.
