Oh these ever-evolving smartphones! We’ve moved on from Single Core processors to Octa Core processors while other components like the display have also moved on from VGA to HD and Full HD with some phones offering even higher resolutions, even 4K! While all these components have been updated the thing powering it all is still stayed largely un-evolved: Battery life. This one factor has been a major pain point for most people on their smartphones.

If you are among the frustrated lot, here are five phones you should look at that offer all-day battery life.

Lenovo K3 Note

The Lenovo K3 is one of the best smartphones from Lenovo on sale at the moment. The phone is big with the display measuring 5.5 inches and has Full HD resolution. The K3 Note is among the few phones to offer such a high resolution display given the asking price. It has a 2900mAh battery which is user-replaceable. The phone gets a 1.7GHz Octa Core Processor and 2GB of RAM which makes i t no slouch when it comes to performance. In terms of software, the device runs Vibe UI 2.0 on top of Android 5.0 Lollipop, and gets a 13 megapixel camera at the back and a 5 megapixel front facing camera. The phone is a Flipkart-exclusive product at the moment and is sold via flash sales. It isn’t very easy to get your hands on one but if you do manage to, it is money well spent.

Meizu M2 Note

The Chinese smartphone maker Meizu has the M2 Note and makes its way onto our list. Like the previous Lenovo, the M2 Note has a 5.5 inch display and Full HD resolution. The phone has a non removable 3100mAh battery which will provide a full day of backup. It has an Octa Core Processor clocked at 1.3GHz and has 2GB of RAM. The device is well designed and has a unibody moulding. Internationally the device is available in a range of colours but in India it is limited to White and Metallic Grey. It runs Flyme 4.5 which is Meizu’s UI, which runs atop Android 5.0 Lollipop. This is a Dual SIM device which supports 4G networks on both the slots. The Sim 2 slot can also be used for MicroSD cards and it accepts cards up to 128GB. The M2 Note is an online exclusive product and is available only on Amazon at the moment.

Huawei Honor 4X

The Huawei Honor 4X was launched along the Huawei Honor 6 and is an entry-level smartphone from the Chinese smartphone maker. The Honor 4X, like the other phones in this roundup, has a 5.5 inch display and a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The display is an IPS panel and as a result has good viewing angles. It has a 1.2GHz Quad Core Processor (Snapdragon 410) with 2GB of RAM. Thanks to the Quad Core processor the phone sips the battery frugally when compared to other more power-hungry Octa Core Chips. Despite the Quad Core chip, the phone is no slouch and goes about its tasks effortlessly. It runs EMUI 3.0 on top on Android 4.4 KitKat. The 13 megapixel camera at the back clicks good images and on the front the device has a 5 megapixel sensor for those selfies. The 4X has a 3000mAh battery and can go through one full day without needing charged. If used lightly it can go on even further, but this is heavily dependent on usage.

Micromax Canvas Juice 2

The Canvas Juice 2 was launched earlier this year and is manufactured by Indian phone behemoth Micromax. The phone has a 5 inch display and a resolution of 1280x720 pixels. In comparison to the other phones here, the Juice 2 has a pixel-dense display. It is powered by a 1.3GHz Quad Core processor and has 2GB of RAM. The device has an 8 megapixel autofocusing camera at the back and a 2 megapixel front facing camera. The other phones in this list do offer better cameras though. It has 8GB of internal storage which is expandable via the MicroSD card slot that supports cards up to 32GB. The Canvas Juice 2 runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop. Finally it packs a 3000mAh non-removable battery and will provide one whole day of battery backup.

Gionee Marathon M3

The M3 is a device from the Marathon series by Gionee and is a series that comprises phones with big batteries. One of the easiest methods to improve the battery life on a smartphone is to provide a bigger battery (obviously) and Gionee has been doing exactly that. The Marathon M3 is priced under Rs. 10,000 and offers the biggest battery capacity of the lot, rated at a humungous 5000mAh. Under regular use conditions, it should see the phone through two or even three days of charge-free use. The other hardware is decent and should be handle light to moderate applications: it is powered by a 1.3GHz Quad Core Processor with 1GB of RAM, which can be a shortcoming with more intense use. The phone has an 8 megapixel camera sensor at the back and a 2 megapixel front facing camera. Gionee’s Amigo UI runs on top of Android 4.4 Kitkat. It seems the USP of the phone is the battery, which it has well-covered, but the rest of the specifications make it suited to nothing more than generic daily use.
