Team by team analysis of Sunday's Monaco Grand Prix, round six of the Formula One championship (teams listed in current championship order):
- - - -
FERRARI (Sebastian Vettel 1, Kimi Raikkonen 2)
Vettel took his third win of the season, 45th of his career and Ferrari's first in Monaco since Michael Schumacher in 2001. Raikkonen started on pole for the first time since June 2008 and anchored Ferrari's first one-two since 2010. The team are now 17 points ahead of champion Mercedes.
-
MERCEDES (Valtteri Bottas 4, Lewis Hamilton 7)
Hamilton started 13th and is now 25 points behind Vettel. Bottas qualified third but lost out to Red Bull's Ricciardo in the pitstops.
-
RED BULL (Daniel Ricciardo 3, Max Verstappen 5)
Verstappen started fourth with Ricciardo fifth and was dismayed to end up behind his team mate after an earlier stop. The Australian had a lucky escape when he hit the wall after the safety car period. The podium was his second successive third-place finish.
-
FORCE INDIA (Esteban Ocon 12, Sergio Perez 13)
The only team to finish with both cars in the points in every race this season saw that record disappear, as did Perez's run of 15 scoring finishes in a row. Ocon picked up a puncture and had to make an extra stop. Perez damaged his front wing on the opening lap in contact with Sainz. He then tangled with Kvyat towards the end and was given a 10-second penalty. The Mexican did set the fastest lap, however.
-
TORO ROSSO (Carlos Sainz 6, Daniil Kvyat 14)
Sainz's third race in a row in the points. He has now scored 25 of the team's 29 points. Kvyat had been ninth but missed out after the collision with Perez, who he said "just drove into me". Toro Rosso are now nine points clear of Williams.
-
WILLIAMS (Felipe Massa 9, Lance Stroll 15)
Massa put Williams back in the points and has scored all 20 this season, with Stroll yet to finish in the top 10. The Canadian retired with high front-brake temperatures. Massa benefited from the late Kvyat-Perez clash.
-
RENAULT (Jolyon Palmer 11, Nico Hulkenberg retired)
Hulkenberg was the first to retire, pulling over with smoke coming from the rear of the car after 15 laps. The team said it was a gearbox issue. Palmer's result was his season-best and came from 16th on the grid.
-
HAAS (Romain Grosjean 8, Kevin Magnussen 10)
Haas had both cars in the points for the first time this season, with Magnussen also a beneficiary of the late collision between Perez and Kvyat.
-
SAUBER (Pascal Wehrlein and Marcus Ericsson retired)
Ericsson crashed at Sainte Devote while the safety car was still deployed. Wehrlein was tipped into the barriers by Button, who tried to pass at the corner leading into the tunnel. The German will have a back scan next week.
-
MCLAREN (Jenson Button and Stoffel Vandoorne retired)
Button replaced Fernando Alonso, who was competing at Indianapolis, and started from the pit lane due to penalties after qualifying ninth. He retired after the collision with Wehrlein, in what is likely to have been the 2009 world champion's last race. Vandoorne crashed out while 10th. McLaren are still the only team with no points.
