Former Pak players express disappointment over team's failure in Champions Trophy

Former Pakistan cricket players expressed major disappointment over the team's dismal showing in the ICC Champions Trophy against archrival India.

According to Daily Times, Former coach Mohsin Khan said that the team needed better coaching to tackle the long-standing batting problem adding that there was no strategy to tackle the batting slump.

Khan who was replaced by former Australian batsman Dave Whatmore further said that there was no strategy, no planning and no permanent batting slots adding that though the bowling was outstanding but the reason to lose all the matches was the poor batting.

According to the report, former captain Rashid Latif critical of Whatmore said that the coach has failed to plan better for the team adding that he should be sent back.

Latif said that for better planning the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should be streamlined with new and wise people who can help in better planning for the team.

Former paceman Sikandar Bakht demanded sacking of captain Misbahul Haq and Muhammad Hafeez and chief selector Iqbal Qasim, and agreed with Latif that the government needs to appoint an honest, dedicated and competent administrator as chairman of the PC.

Another angry and disgruntled former Test pace bowler Jalaluddin said that without quality players in the team it is difficult for Pakistan to retain on the international stage.

Pakistan were bowled out for 170 in their opening Group B match against the West Indies before slumping to 167 against South Africa and 165 against India in a rain-shortened match, the report added.
