Orissa Cricket Association (OCA) today announced Twenty-20 and Under-22 teams and reserved the selection of Ranji team to October 28. While Rakesh Mohanty was named as the captain of T-20 team, Atish Jena had been declared captain of U-22 team.
The 14-member squad for T20 team were: Nataraj Behera, Paresh Patel, Prasanta Sahoo, Niranjan Behera, Tukuna Sahoo, Rashmi Ranjan Das, Subhrajit Sahu (WK), Rakesh Mohanty (captain), Deepak Behera, Bibhudutta Panda, Laganjit Samal, Biplab Samantray, Alok Sahu and Santosh Sethi.
The senior selection committee meeting also named 15 members for U-22 team. They were: Nataraj Behera, Sandeep Mulla, Gobind Poddar, Abhilash Mallick, Atish Jena (captain), Ansuman Gope (WK), Laganjit Samal, P R Sinha, Rajesh Sethi, Bibhudutta Panda, Alok Sahoo, Ananda Sahu, Subhrajit Sahu (WK), Alok Pradhan and Dhiraj Singh.
The T20 team was scheduled to leave for Dhanbad tomorrow to play matches in the ensuing T20 Zonal Tournament (East Zone) to be held there on October 20, 21, 23 and 24.
Orissa U-22 team would play matches against Rajasthan and Karnataka to be held at Bhilwada and Bangalore from October 28 to October 31 and November 4 to November 9 respectively.
On selection of Ranji Team, OCA secretary Asirbad Behera said at least 12 playes had been informed to report to Abakash Khatua, coach (Ranji Team) at Barabati stadium ground on October 19.
"The final selection of the team will be considered based on the performance of the T20 and U-22 teams, including the 12 players informed today," Behera told PTI.
The 12 players informed to report Ranji Team coach were: SS Das, Bikash Swarup Pati, Subit Biswal, Haladhar Das (WK), Debasis Mohanty, Basanta Mohanty, Pravanjan Mullick, Paramjeet Das, Sukanta Khatua, P Jaychandra, Santosh Jena and Sambit Rout.
