Nipun Chauhan starred yet again for Bombay Scottish by scoring two goals in his school’s 2-0 win over St Francis D’Assisi (Borivli) in their first Super League encounter of the MSSA inter-school tournament held at Azad Maidan on Friday.

By scoring a brace, Nipun extended his stand of being the top goal scorer for his school for the fifth year in a row with a current tally of seven goals.

Scottish registered their fifth consecutive win and are proving to be one of the most impressive teams this year. Currently, they share the record of not conceding a goal so far in the tournament along with Don Bosco and St Stanislaus. Their coach, Adib Kenkre, attributed this achievement to his defenders and goalkeeper.

“Defence has been our strength. Goals are conceded when the defence commits a blunder. These set of defenders have been playing together from under-8 and hence their co-ordination is very good,” he said.

Adib said that playing a game which would be appreciated by others was much more significant than winning a game. “Actual satisfaction lies in producing class players and not in winning,” he added.

Kenkre praised the performance of his team and credited Nipun by calling him a “top class player”. “Our boys play a methodical game. Moreover, most of these boys have been playing as a team for more than eight years now. That helps in combining well.”
