Former Flipkart co-founder Sachin Bansal is India's self-made billionaire who built his billion-dollar business from the comfort of his flat. The company was worth $20.8 billion in 2018. The decision to sell Walmart Sachin Bansal's 5.5 percent ownership stake in Flipkart was made in 2018. After quitting his position as executive chairman of Flipkart, Sachin Bansal joined Navi Group as executive chairman of Flipkart.

Sachin was born on August 5, 1981, in Chandigarh, and has come a long way from humble beginnings to reshaping the face of Indian e-commerce.

The early years of Sachin Bansal were marked by a passion for innovation and technology. He worked on honing his talents and building a solid foundation in technology and business at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, where he pursued a degree in Computer Science Engineering.

The online book shop Flipkart was established in 2007 by billionaire friend and former Amazon executive Sachin Bansal. The two, who have the same last name but are unrelated, consolidated $6,000 of their total assets and began operating their business out of their flat.

Binny Bansal worked for Amazon for nine months before founding Flipkart after receiving two rejections from Google. When Binny Bansal and his business partner Sachin Bansal first had the idea to create a similar search engine, there wasn't a lot of e-commerce activity in India. As a result, they quit Amazon in 2007 and started an online retailer called Flipkart.

Wal-Mart spent $16 billion to acquire a 77% share in Flipkart, which was the largest deal ever for an online company. When Bansal sold his minority stake for $1 billion, he gained some money.

Sachin Bansal has a stunning net worth of $ 1.3 billion (Rs 1,06,20,05,10,000), according to Forbes.
