Doc attempts suicide, medico wife hangs herself

A 27-year-old lady doctor Padmaja Paul committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling of her house at Varsha Apartment in Hadapsar on Wednesday.

She took the extreme step after her husband Dr Manish Paul (28) attempted suicide by consuming sleeping pills following a tiff with her husband.

Hadapsar police inspector Pandharinath Mandhare said that the couple married one-and-a-half years ago and fought frequently.

On Tuesday night, a quarrel broke out between them and Manish, in a fit of rage, consumed sleeping pills and fell unconscious. Padmaja rushed him to Nobel Hospital around 12.30 am on Wednesday.

“After some time, she returned home and ended her life,” Mandhare said.
The neighbours informed the Hadapsar police about the incident around 3 am. Police inspector BK Chavan of Hadapsar police station is investigating.
