A private company, which has Kapil Dev in its board of directors, has claimed that barely two years after the construction, the skywalk in Bandra (east) is already corroding.

There is high risk of corrosion of skywalks and the metro and monorail corridors, according to the management team of Doehle Danautic, a company which imports high quality anti-corrosion product — ZRC.

“The biggest losses are incurred in the infrastructure sector which has intensive use of iron and steel. These materials get badly affected by corrosion because of which the structure gets damaged in less than 5 years,” said Kapil Dev, who owns 30% stake in the company.

Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) spokesperson Dilip Kawathkar said: “There are many companies which have come to us giving such representations and the authority has taken full protection against heavy corrosion.”

The company’s managing director Daniel Chopra said, “The Delhi metro has done a test-run of our product. However, the MMRDA or the MSRDC, which owns the Bandra-Worli sea link, have so far not reverted to us.”
