Tarannum returns behind bars

Bar dancer’s bodyguard charges her with assault.

The travails of Tarannum Khan, the crorepati bar dancer, are still not over. After the Income-Tax raid at her home, and a month in the jail for her “involvement in cricket betting”, Tarannum and her father Zaffar Khan have now been charged with assault.

The duo was arrested and would be produced in the Andheri metropolitan magistrate court on Friday, said Bipin Bihari, Additional Commissioner of Police (West). The complaint was lodged by the bar dance’s private bodyguard Babu Singh Rajput in Versova police station on Thursday night.

According to police sources, Tarannum and her father had allegedly beaten up Rajput after he asked for his salary.

He used to work at Tarannun’s Tanishq bungalow in the plush Mhada colony near Andheri Lokhandawala.

Rajput alleged that Tarannum did not pay him salaries for the last four months. She and her father used abusive language whenever he asked for his dues. The duo has been charged with assault, criminal intimidation and threat to kill.

Earlier, Tarannum had been arrested along with half a dozen of bookies and punter for allegedly running a betting racket.
