Udaykant Ranoji Andekar (38), the candidate of the Nationalist Congress Party contesting the Pune civic election from Doke Talim panel, was arrested along with four others as a precautionary measure.

Udaykant Ranoji Andekar (38), the candidate of the Nationalist Congress Party contesting the Pune civic election from Doke Talim panel, was arrested along with four others as a precautionary measure on Monday.
A judicial magistrate (first class) dismissed the application of the police for judicial custody of the suspects. Andekar was released.
Senior inspector Sanjay Bhambure said, “Udaykant, who has a criminal past, was arrested by Samarth police along with his brother Suryakant alias Bandu, Suryakant’s son-in-law Ganesh Komkar (30), Alim Shaikh (35) and Rahul Ketare (22).” He said they were held on being found loitering suspiciously in Rasta Peth.
