A 24-year-old student from Delhi who sought sexual favours from a Mumbai-based fashion designer through messages on social media has been arrested.
The accused, identified as Keshav Rajput, is a resident of in Karol Bagh in central Delhi. He was arrested by the Vinoba Bhave Nagar police in Kurla West on Thursday.
According to the complaint filed by the victim, the accused sent her obscene messages through her Twitter and Instagram profiles. Some of the messages had explicit sexual content and asked for sexual favours, she said in the complaint, adding that he also stalked her sister online.
"He sent abusive messages to me and my sister asking for sexual favours. It was a nightmare. I am a fashion designer and I have two Instagram accounts – a personal and a professional one. I took screenshots of these messages and posted them on Twitter, tagging the Mumbai police to report the matter. When I blocked him, he sent the abusive messages to my sister. I then approached the police," she told DNA.
The police said the woman approached them last year. "We formed a team of five and traced the IP address of his computer and sent a team to nab him," said Bharat Bhoite, senior inspector, Vinoba Bhave Nagar police station.
