In a major reshuffle of top officers of the Indian Police Services cadre on Thursday night, the state government has transferred 17 IPS officers.
IPS Kapil Garg will be the new director general of police DGP of Rajasthan while IPS Anand Kumar Srivastava will be the new Jaipur police commissioner. In a major reshuffle of top officers of the Indian Police Services cadre on Thursday night, the state government has transferred 17 IPS officers.
Garg who is currently the senior-most IPS officer was posted with state crime records bureau since January 2014 and was a year back in December posted as chairman police housing and construction corporation. During the last Gehlot government, Garg had helmed prime positions like additional director general of police (ADG) in Anti-terrorist squad and in crime branch.
As expected the DGP has been changed and Garg an IPS of 1983 batch has replaced OP Galhotra as DGP who has now been made DG (home guard). A 1985-batch officer Galhotra had succeeded former DGP Manoj Bhatt after his retirement in November 2017 and had just completed an year as DGP of the state.
In another major change, now Anand Kumar Srivastava will be heading the commissionerate of Jaipur. Srivastava, a 94-batch officer will replace Sanjay Agarwal who has now been posted as ADG with state disaster relief force. Agarwal was Jaipur police commissioner since February 2016 and was about to complete 3 years on the same post.
Senior IPS BL Soni is also back in mainstream policing and has been made ADG (Crime). Soni was the first police commissioner of Jaipur between 2011 and 2013 when Gehlot was the chief minister. Soni who was currently posted as ADG in state disaster relief force has been brought back to head police investigations and will head CID branch.
IPS Sanjay Shotriya who was till now posted as DIG (CB) has been brought back into the CMO. He has been posted as DIG of chief minister security and vigilance. It willbe his second stint in chief minister’s security. He was earlier posted in the CMO’s security cell during the previous tenure of Gehlot.
