Weather update: IMD predicts heavy rainfall in several states for next 4 days; latest forecast here

For a number of states across the country, the India Meteorological Department has published weather advisories. According to the most recent advisory, heavy to very heavy rain is expected to continue for the next two days and then lessen over Bihar, Jharkhand, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Northeast India. 

Here’s how the weather will be for the next 4 days:

Today and tomorrow, West Bengal, Sikkim, and Bihar in the Sub-Himalayas could expect light to moderately widespread to widespread rain, thunderstorms, and lightning, with a few isolated areas expected to receive heavy rain.

Likewise, till Wednesday, across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Meanwhile, there will likely be isolated, very heavy rain in Bihar tomorrow and in Andaman & Nicobar on Tuesday and Wednesday. Tomorrow in Northeast India, isolated heavy rainfall is probable throughout Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya. Light to moderate widespread rainfall and thunderstorms are also possible.

Arunachal Pradesh, west Assam, and Meghalaya are likely to have isolated, extremely heavy rain today. Meanwhile, in Central India, tomorrow through Monday, East Madhya Pradesh, West Madhya Pradesh, and Vidarbha are likely to see mild to moderately heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning. East Madhya Pradesh and north Chhattisgarh are extremely likely to get isolated, very heavy rains today.

According to IMD, today is expected to bring light to moderate rainfall across most of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, coastal Andhra Pradesh, north central Karnataka, and Rayalaseema, with isolated heavy rains being highly likely. Northwest India is expected to have light to moderate rain and thunderstorms today, with isolated heavy showers anticipated over Punjab, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh.

While in West India, Saturday (today) is expected to bring light to moderate amounts of rain, thunder, and lightning with isolated heavy rains highly probable over the Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathwada regions.

Over the next 5 days, there is a chance of isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall in the other parts of the nation. On Saturday, areas of the Delhi NCR were battered by heavy rain and strong winds, providing relief from the hot weather for the locals. According to the India Meteorological Department, Delhi's minimum temperature on Saturday was 27 degrees Celsius, which is three degrees more than the season's normal.
