A massive landslide in Himachal Pradesh has destroyed many houses and reportedly many people are trapped in the debris. The IMD has issued a red alert for the next two days.

A massive landslide in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh’s district demolished many houses and many people are reported to be trapped in the debris. Images of the landslide show numerous multi-story buildings crumbling and creating a wide trail of dust in their wake.

To save persons who are allegedly trapped in the landslide, emergency response teams including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed.
"Disturbing visuals emerge from Anni, Kullu, depicting a massive commercial building collapsing amidst a devastating landslide. It's noteworthy that the administration had identified the risk and successfully evacuated the building two days prior," Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu wrote on X.
A red alert has been issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) for Himachal Pradesh, alerting of impending heavy to very heavy rainfall for the next two days beginning today.
After the Kullu-Mandi road was damaged by severe rain in Kullu, hundreds of vehicles were left stranded. A long queue of parked cars can be seen in a video that the news organization ANI uploaded online.

According to commuters, there is a traffic jam stretching nearly 5-10 kilometres. “We have nothing to eat or drink. People are starving here. The snarl should be cleared soon,” the commuter told ANI.
In the ecologically delicate hill state, the constant rain has resulted in widespread destruction, including landslides, cloudbursts, and flash floods. The entire state had previously been designated by the state government as "a natural calamity-affected area," and work is currently being done to assess the damage and help those who have been impacted.
