Shiv Sena MP Omraje Nimbalkar attacked by knife-wielding man at rally ahead of Maharashra assembly polls

Shiv Sena MP Omraje Nimbalkar Wednesday was attacked by an unknown assailant with a knife while campaigning for party's candidate Kailash Patil in Osmanabad district, Maharashtra.

While Omraje Nimbalkar was addressing an election rally at Padoli Naigaon village in Kalamb taluka for another party candidate Kailash Patil, a man came close to the Shiv Sena MP on the pretext of shaking his hands, attacked him with a knife and fled.

Speaking to PTI, a police official said, "While greeting the MP, the man attacked him with a knife and immediately fled. Nimbalkar got hurt on his hand but escaped a major injury because of his wristwatch."

BJP-Shiv Sena had formally announced their seat-sharing deal ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly elections in a joint press conference in Mumbai with Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. 

The Shiv Sena will contest 124 seats while the BJP will contest 164 seats in Maharashtra. 

Maharashtra goes to polls on October 21 and counting of votes will takes place on October 24.

 Omraje Nimbalkar is an MP from Osmanabad constituency in Maharashtra.
