Bhartiya Janta Party’s Yuva Morcha (BJYM) staged a protest in front of Eden Gardens cricket stadium on Saturday demanding the removal of Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and other Pakistani cricket players.

BJYM supporters marched from Babughat and gathered in front of the stadium demanding the removal of the posters.

However, Kolkata Police officials prevented them from entering the stadium and were immediately detained.

Later, BJPYM members were arrested and taken to Lalbazar - Kolkata Police Headquarters.

“We were here for a peaceful protest. Police are manhandling us and preventing us from entering the stadium. We want the Cricket Association of Bengal to immediately remove the posters,” said BJP leader Raju Banerjee while he was leading the protest.

A day ago, Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh also participated in a march to the Eden Gardens demanding the removal of the posters.

Ghosh said, “So many of our jawans died in the Pulwama attack. It is the handiwork of Pakistan. We should be ashamed of having posters of Imran Khan in the stadium. People are extremely angry and they must take down all the posters as soon as possible. We are urging the CAB and the state government to take the necessary actions.”
