Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday lavished praise on the Indian Air Force for providing succour to the people in the hours of crisis, especially during natural calamities.
"Whenever there are natural calamities or road accidents, we turn to you for helping the people by rushing relief materials, medicines, essential commodities or shifting the injured for treatment," Abdullah told Air Force officers during his interaction with them and their families at the Air Force station here.
Referring to the just-concluded assembly elections in the state, he said the Air Force played an appreciable role during the run-up to the elections by airlifting poll personnel and election material to the far-flung and inaccessible areas.
Station commander Group Captain V Prakash, while welcoming Abdullah, said the officers were keen to interact with the youngest chief minister of the state.
