All Bengaluru schools and institutions will be closed tomorrow due to the Karnataka Bandh, according to Bengaluru DC Dayananda's announcement on Thursday.
All schools and institutions in Bengaluru will be closed on Friday in observance of the statewide action called by pro-Kannada organizations in opposition to the delivery of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. To close educational institutions, a formal order has been issued.
All Bengaluru schools and institutions will be closed tomorrow due to the Karnataka Bandh, according to Bengaluru DC Dayananda's announcement on Thursday. A statement regarding the Karnataka bandh was released by the Associated Managements of Schools in Karnataka (KAMS).
"However, in light of the Karnataka bandh on Friday, we kindly ask the deputy commissioners of the relevant districts to assess the local situation before deciding on the holiday for schools. To safeguard the safety of the pupils, we will also leave it up to the decision of the school administration to announce a vacation to schools based on the circumstances of their locality," according to the statement.
In light of the Karnataka Bandh announced by more than 2,000 pro-Kannada groups in opposition to the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu, Bengaluru Police has enacted section 144 throughout the city until Saturday 12 am. Police Commissioner B Dayanand stated that the ban will be in effect starting from 12 am on Friday, September 29.
The state government has been forewarned against taking any action to restrict it by the umbrella organization for Kannada organizations known as "Kannada Okkuta." A protest march will go from Town Hall to Freedom Park on Friday as part of the bandh, which is scheduled to last from 6 am to 6 pm. Authorities have urged residents to use alternate routes as commuters are also expected to experience traffic delays.
In a tweet, it stated: "In the midst of the call for a bandh in Karnataka from different pro-Kannada groups, there is a likelihood of congestion due to protest march from Town Hall to Freedom Park and the public has been directed to travel through different routes."
