Jaipur: Audi at 200 kph rams into truck; one killed

The thrill of getting views and shares on social media proved fatal for a Rajasthan youngster, who met with an accident while speeding his Audi car on the Jaipur-Ajmer Expressway on Sunday.

A biker gang, going at over 150 kilometres per hour, were being followed by a cameraperson in an Audi who was shooting the bikers in action. The car driver then increased his speed to about 200 kilometres per hour but couldn't stop in time and collided with a car and then crashed into a truck. The driver of the Audi succumbed to his injuries, while two others were wounded in the accident.

The accident occurred at Ramner bridge under the Gandhi Nagar police station area of Kishangarh. Eyewitnesses informed the police about the stunts the bikers and the car-borne youth were performing. "The Expressway has three lanes. In the lane closest to the median, three men were traveling to Jaisalmer by a Brezza car. In the middle lane was a truck, while another car was passing in the third. There was enough space between the three vehicles for the two-wheelers to pass, but the gap wasn't enough to let the Audi through," said Rajendra Singh, station house officer, Gandhi Nagar police station.

"The bikers increased their speed from 150 kilometres an hour to 200. When the car did likewise, he hit the Brezza, then veered away and crashed into the truck," Singh said. "The deceased has been identified as Hiten Sharma, while the driver has been identified as Yaduveer. The latter is stable, while one passenger from the Brezza also sustained injuries. Further action is being taken."
