Independence Day 2023: Delhi Metro timings changed for August 15; check routes, DMRC guidelines

DMRC has announced revised Delhi Metro timings for August 15 owing to the Independence Day 2023 celebrations in the national capital tomorrow.

As Delhi Police has put up barricading and issued traffic advisories for August 15 due to the Independence Day 2023 celebrations in the national capita, the timings for the Delhi Metro on Tuesday have also been revised, as notified by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

DMRC recently put out an advisory to inform everyone in the Delhi NCR region about the revised routes and timings of the Delhi Metro services for August 15, to facilitate those who will be attending the Independence Day 2023 celebrations at the Red Fort tomorrow morning.

Announcing the same via Twitter, the DMRC wrote, “To facilitate passengers to attend the Independence Day ceremony on 15th August 2023 (Tuesday), Delhi Metro train services on all Lines will start from 5AM from all terminal stations. The trains will run with a frequency of 30 minutes on all the Lines till 6AM.”

While the Delhi Metro services will be starting at 5 am on August 15, the DMRC has announced that parking services at the metro station will not be available on Independence Day 2023.

 

 

The Delhi Metro authority said, “Parking facilities will NOT BE AVAILABLE at stations from 6AM on 14/08/2023 till 2PM on 15/08/2023 in view of security measures adopted on the occasion. However, train services will continue per normal schedule.”

The Delhi Police has increased checkpoints and barricading near the central Delhi area and 10,000 additional security personnel have been deployed in the national capital to maintain safety during the Independence Day 2023 celebrations tomorrow at the Red Fort.

It must be noted that apart from the revised timings, Delhi Metro services will run as per the usual schedule. No parking is allowed at the stations, and extra security will be deployed at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House and other crowded stations.

Further, the Delhi Police has imposed CrPC Section 144 in parts of Delhi, announcing on Twitter, “In view of Independence Day celebrations, Section 144 of CrPC (Code of Criminal Procedure) has been invoked in areas nearby Rajghat, ITO, Red Fort etc. No gathering of any kind is permitted in these areas.”
