'In India, everyone is a Hindu', says Mohan Bhagwat at biggest ever-RSS meet in Meerut

The RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday asserted that everyone living in India is a Hindu while addressing a crowd of the party's biggest-ever congregation of RSS workers, sympathetisers and supporters in Meerut.

“Every Hindu is my own brother. In India one may follow a different eating habits, way of worshipping the gods, philosophy, language and culture. But all of them are Hindus. There are many who are Hindu but they are not aware of it. Only those who consider Bharat Mata his own mother are true Hindus,” Bhagwat said.

Everybody looks at diversity but the truth is that this is unity of diversity, he added.

He said fanatic 'Hindutva' means fanaticism towards non-violence and generosity. "A person should have fanaticism for generosity and non-violence," he said.

"We Hindus need to unite because since ancient times this has been our home and we are obliged towards this country," said Bhagwat.

The 'Rashtrodaya Sammelan' organised by RSS witnessed participation from several regions of UP and Uttarakhand. Several political leaders, MPs and MLAs were present at the event.

Incidentally, this congregation kills a lot many birds for the RSS with the proverbial one stone. Over two lakh participating volunteers registered were below 40 years of age, thus lending this gathering a rather youthful profile which would, said Sangh functionaries, add to the idea of show of strength.

The event involved people from three commissionerates — Meerut, Sahranpur and Moradabad — from across 14 administrative districts, which the RSS has divided for its own convenience into 25 of its own districts. The RSS was aiming to involve all the 10,580 villages in the event, Ajay Mittal, head of publicity for Meerut RSS said.
