Valasan village in this district of Gujarat has been declared cholera-affected, while five others surrounding it are being monitored by the health department, officials said today.
District collector RN Joshi declared Valasan as cholera-hit yesterday after two cases of the water-borne disease were confirmed from the village, they said.
Five other villages surrounding Valasan - Karamsad, Sandesar, Vidhyanagar, Ghunteli and Ravipura - are being monitored by the health officials. Health department and local bodies have been asked to take preventive measures to check an outbreak, the officials said.
Door-to-door check-up has been initiated to identify more cases of cholera in these villages, they added.
