Experts have said that the Aam Aadmi Party's decision to demonstrate the 'hacking' of a dummy Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) within the confines of the Delhi Assembly was a deliberate attempt to evade legal consequences.

In a Hindustan Times report, the expert said that a demonstation outside the Assembly would have landed the party in trouble. A leglislator enjoys immunity inside the Assembly and Parliament, but the Election Commission could have derecognised the party had AAP given their demonstration outside the assembly, the report added.

The Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday demonstrated in Delhi assembly how the machines can be rigged.

Stating that the party (BJP) used 'secret codes' to sway votes, AAP MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj demonstrated how one party gets votes given to another party's candidates.

Meanwhile, Election Commission sources have said that a prototype electronic voting machine was used in the demo and the tampering was not proved on an ECI EVM machine.
