There are several people who are "so-called" farmer leaders but in reality their demonstration is only to challenge the government. Two such persons are Yogendra Yadav, the president of the Swaraj Abhiyan party and Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) president Rakesh Tikait.

Yadav, who has been a journalist and an election analyst in the past, is these days seen in every demonstration against the government. On Republic Day when the country's honour was being crushed at the Red Fort,  Yogendra Yadav was also involved in the tractor rally at another place.

Yogendra Yadav has been involved in every demonstration in recent years, which was only aimed at challenging the government. We was also involved in the agitation for Lokpal and CAA law in Shaheen Bagh. Not only that, his name is also mentioned in the Delhi Police chargesheet in the 2020 Delhi riots case.

On the other hand BKU chief Rakesh Tikat, who is the son of Mahendra Singh Tikait, was part of the Delhi Police once and has unsuccessfully contested the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections in 2007. Thereafter in 2014, he contestes the Lok Sabha elections on Ajit Singh's Rashtriya Lok Dal ticket from the Amroha seat. However, he managed to get only 9,539 votes.

This shows how people like Yadav and Tikait have bigger ambitions than to only support farmers.

Tikait on Thursday accused the Central government of hatching a conspiracy against farmers and said that the farmers will not call off their sit-in protest against the agricultural reform laws until they hold discussions with the government."We will continue our sit-in protest and will not vacate site till talks with the government are held. The administration has removed basic facilities including water and electricity supply. We will get water from our villages," Tikait said.

"The Central Government and Delhi Police have conspired against the farmers since January 26 to dismantle the protest. They (Government) cheated the farmers. BJP legislators are bringing people to hit the farmers," he alleged.

While demanding a probe into the violence on January 26, he emphasised that the agitation by the farmers would continue. Tikait also demanded the Supreme Court to investigate the violence that occurred on January 26 at the Red fort. "The people involved at the violence at the Red Fort and their connections should be investigated," said Tikait while addressing the agitating farmers at the Ghazipur Border.
