The VIP, who had arrived in the National Capital with two others from Ahmedabad to board a flight to Kathmandu, dialled 100 for not being escorted by the police after he landed at the Delhi airport.
It was none other than Prahlad Bhai Modi, brother of the prime minister Narendra Modi, who had to dial 100 from the departure terminal of the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport on Wednesday, for police assistance, DNA has learnt.
The VIP, who had arrived in the National Capital with two others from Ahmedabad to board a flight to Kathmandu, dialled 100 for not being escorted by the police after he landed at the Delhi airport. However, no prior information of his arrival was given to security agencies, they said.
The incident left security agencies and airport authorities scrambling and within minutes, a team of senior officers from the Delhi police, the Central Industrial Security Force, and airport operator Delhi International Airport Ltd arrived to escort and facilitate his movement.
According to highly placed sources at the airport, Prahlad Bhai Modi arrived at IGI from Ahmedabad by an IndiGo flight 6E 158 around 7.45 am on Wednesday. There were two other men who were accompanying him and all of them were to board IndiGo's 6E 031, scheduled to take off at 11.45 am for Kathmandu, officials told DNA.
An inquiry showed that Prahlad Modi had called up the police control room "for not being provided police escort", said sources. Immediately, the shift in-charge, and coordination staff rushed along with senior police officers and met him, officials said. Finally, Modi was escorted to his flight by the personnel from two security agencies.
