Chairperson of the Rajasthan State Commission for Protection of Child Rights Manan Chaturvedi and members visited on Tuesday the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh Vidyalaya to inquire into several complaints made by students. Chaturvedi, who was accompanied by the officials of state education department, inspected the school and met the principal and others members of the school management.

Later speaking to DNA, Chaturvedi informed that they found many new layers in the ongoing controversy. She said that different complaints by students had been received and after hearing the students, the commission had decided to inspect the school.

She said that the commission will be giving directions to the school after making the analytical report.

“We inspected the school and heard the principal and the management. We will be directing the school after making the analytical report,” she said.

The commission has made up its mind to observe the activities going on in school so that it’s run properly.

The commission had stepped into the controversy going on in school after several students approached the commission complaining about various issues of the school, including complaints regarding corporal punishment

Another issue which the commission felt was related to making of the school management committee which is to be formed under the provisions of RTE. The members were of the view that provisions were being flouted as committee was not formed properly.

“There is a need for inducting  members from outside  in the school management committee, like peoplefrom Jawahar Navodya Vidyalya or principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya. A representative of education department has to be member of the committee. This is a major flaw which needs to be rectified,” said V Sarvana Kumar, a member secretary of the commission.
