Union Home Minister Amit Shah while speaking on the abrogation of Article 370 on Sunday said that he firmly believes it should have been removed long ago.
"As a legislator, I firmly believe Article 370 should've been removed long ago. As a Home Minister, there was no confusion in my mind about the consequences of removing Article 370. I'm confident terrorism in Kashmir will finish and it'll move ahead on the path of development now," Home Minister Amit Shah said.
Amit Shah made these statements in Chennai. The Union Home Minister was in the city to launch a book on the experiences of Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu during the past two years in office titled — 'Listening, Learning and Leading'.

Former Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu took charge as Vice President and as Rajya Sabha chairman on August 11, 2017.
Apart from Amit Shah, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, Governor Banwarilal Purohit and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
Earlier this week, the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill 2019, the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Second Amendment) Bill 2019, and a resolution revoking Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir were passed by both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha with an overwhelming majority.
Ahead of the decision, the central government had deployed additional military troops to control any possible untoward incident.
Earlier on Saturday, Section 144 was lifted in Jammu which was imposed in the backdrop of whittling down of Article 370 and bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories -- Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.
The government had also suspended mobile internet in Jammu in view of the security situation in the region which later resumed.
